New imprint Try Harder releases a debut 7" single by Tired Irie, which I'll quote from the press release as being somewhere between Interpol & Q and not U with flashes of Shipping News & Redjetson. I really couldn't have said it better myself. Brittle & anthemic with chiming, desolate guitars cutting the song down the centre, parting the waves of new wave & post hardcore before it's all sewn back up in a flurry of yearning & intense sub-emo angst. 'Like. Gentle. Men' is backed with the epic 'Burning Off The Murk' , a slow burning trawl through inspired math rock waters, the layered vocal harmonies stirring your (tortured) soul.
